Suzanne McKie KC quoted by The Times on sexual harassment case against Mike Hill MP

Suzanne McKie QC has been quoted in The Times in relation to the sexual harassment case against Mike Hill MP, on Sunday 15th November 2020.

The Times reports that the Labour MP, who has failed in his bid to gain anonymity, has been funding his fight against the claim of unfair dismissal, sexual assault and harassment using taxpayers’ money. The claimant, on the other hand, who was temporarily made homeless after losing her job, has had to set up an online crowd-funding page to raise £25,000 in order to support her case.

The article goes on to mention that in relation to the employment tribunal process, Suzanne McKie QC, who is representing the claimant in this case, says: “The employment tribunal process can be punishing for individuals who wish to bring discrimination and harassment claims and the costs can be prohibitive. Especially during the pandemic, there have been significant delays in the progress of claims, and in this case the final hearing was postponed in its entirety for almost a year..”
