Farore Law welcomes Robin Pickard as an Associate

Following the successful completion of his pupillage, Farore Law is pleased to announce that Robin Pickard has joined the firm as an Associate today.

Please find his biography below:

Robin is an Associate Lawyer at Farore Law who works on the firm’s most cutting-edge cases. He has advised senior executives and other regulated professionals in high-value employment litigation involving discrimination, whistleblowing and misconduct in the workplace. Robin has also advised and represented those who are the subject of internal investigations – he understands how to put a client’s case robustly and to steer cases towards a successful resolution. Robin completed his training at Farore Law in November 2023.

Robin graduated from the University of Sussex with a First-Class law degree and obtained Distinction in his postgraduate studies at the LSE. Robin achieved a Distinction on the BTC, ranking amongst the top performers in his cohort.

Recent work includes:

  • Advising a managing equity partner of a professional services firm who was facing an internal investigation into allegations of bullying and harassment. Robin worked with colleagues to advise the client on his potential race discrimination claims against the firm, which included drafting a formal grievance and halting the internal investigation (which was itself a further act of victimisation).
  • Acting with the Team for a CNBC news anchor in a widely reported sexual harassment and discrimination case against Comcast and its subsidiaries. This was a cross-jurisdictional claim that involved making novel legal arguments to secure a hugely successful outcome.
  • Acting for a senior executive in complex litigation against a private equity firm – led by Suzanne McKie KC, Robin assisted the client to effectively bring claims for sex discrimination and an equal pay complaint involving underpayment of base salary, discretionary bonuses and carried interest allocations. This included drafting a successful application for disclosure of pay information in relation to the equal pay complaint.
  • Advising an FCA regulated individual (led by Suzanne McKie KC) facing an internal investigation in relation to the breach of confidentiality policies. The team guided the regulated individual through the process by making representations on his behalf, providing a highly detailed document that demonstrated that the material was largely public-facing, and assisted the individual to provide detailed witness statements. This resulted in a positive outcome for the client.
  • Assisting the firm to act for a House of Lords Peer by securing a strike out of the Claimant’s remedies hearing after she destroyed key evidence. Led by Suzanne McKie KC, Robin produced a skeleton argument (the content of which featured in the strike out judgment) and by drafting the response to the Claimant’s appeal against the strike out decision.
  • Recent disciplinary work has involved Robin providing advocacy services to a client before the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. After hearing Robin’s submissions, the Disciplinary Panel dismissed all charges against his client, which included professional misconduct such as failing to maintain their integrity.
  • Appearing in preliminary hearings, final merits hearings and before the EAT: Robin has secured a six-figure award for his client in a case involving disability discrimination and won a case before the EAT concerning access to justice for unrepresented Claimants.

Outside of work, Robin regularly boulders and climbs (with ropes) indoors – he has ambitions of leading some of the UK’s crags in the near future. Robin also enjoys hosting dinner parties and attempting haute cuisine (with varying degrees of success).
