What is a DSAR?

A Data Subject Access Request allows individuals to enforce their rights to obtain copies of their personal data, as well as other supplementary information. In practice, claimants in Employment Tribunal disputes may use a DSAR to obtain documents regarding or referring to them ahead of standard disclosure – often to gain a better understanding of why certain decisions have been taken in respect of them.

For more details about how to make a DSAR and common pitfalls that employees face when making a DSAR against their employers, please see Farore Law’s guide on DSARs – Right of Access of Personal Data.
